In this Report, the Centre for Legal Innovation (CLI) Distinguished Fellow, Natalia Crnomarkovic, explores Corporate Australia’s response to climate change, the role of legal professionals (lawyers and allied professionals) in this, and the impact of technology in progressing towards Net Zero – it was a big goal for an even bigger global challenge.
While climate change and corporate responsibility is not a new area, it has recently re-emerged with gusto and a renewed expectation that this time, we have the tools and capabilities to do more and do better. Corporations are still finding their feet. Law firms are expanding their ESG consultancies. In-house counsel are being asked more questions by their Boards. Governments are regulating. Risks are significant. Much is at stake.
For all these reasons, this was a timely and ground breaking research undertaking and one we feel sure will provoke discussion and highlight important opportunities for legal professionals to meaningfully connect their work to Net Zero.
Thank you Natalia for a fabulous Fellowship – congratulations!
